On Saturday 15th February I hosted a Botanical Drawing & Papercraft Workshop at one of my favourite London locations – the Barbican Conservatory – as part of the Yodomo workshop programme at Life Lessons Festival.
Thank you to everyone who took part – I was really blown away by everyone’s creativity and positive comments. And also thank you to GF Smith for kindly supplying a selection of beautiful colorplan papers!
I designed to workshop to give festival goers the chance to; “Look, play and create your own unique response to the Barbican Conservatory.” During the three hour drop-in workshop, I demonstrated and provided drawing materials for visitors to capture their surroundings. Then, inspired by Matisse cut-outs, they were able to distil brutalist architecture and abundant botanical forms down to their essential shapes, creating their own concise collaged artworks.
Take a look through to see some of the wonderful work we created!
