Drawing at the Barbican

One Saturday in June I co-hosted a drawing afternoon with Drawing Escapes at the Barbican centre in London.

From our spot on the terrace (with the occasional glimpse of sunshine!), we were by no means in short supply of interesting subject matter. A constantly shifting mix of people was set against a varied backdrop of natural forms and architectural compositions. (Even if you’re not a fan of Brutalism, there are views of St Giles Cripplegate church across the lake).

A few greatly-enjoyable hours spent drawing were followed by a round table tutorial in a pub nearby. It was great to see the variety of work that came out of our group of 12, ranging from students to teachers and to professional creatives.

You can join us again in London on Sunday 20th October – and I recommend joining The Drawing Club on Facebook to hear about future events around the UK.
